Eliminate Varicose Veins with our Laser Vein Treatment in Morehead City and Jacksonville, NC

Varicose veins form as the vein walls lose their elasticity, weakening the vessel valves as you age. As a result, these veins have a harder time returning blood to the heart, causing it to pool in leg veins that get larger over time. This troublesome issue is very common as we age, with 50% of Americans over the age of 50 being affected.

During a relaxed office-based VenaCure EVLT® procedure, a laser will be threaded into the problematic “feeder” vein. This laser is used to seal off the vein eliminating the pooling effect and helping to shrink the surrounding problem veins. The procedure is very effective and has an unmatched safety record with over a million performed to date.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the VenaCure EVLT® treatment right for me?
VenaCure EVLT® has been found to be effective for a vast majority of patients who have been treated and has a success rate of up to 98%. The team at Carolinas Center for Surgery can help you decide if it is a good fit for you.
What causes varicose veins?
Varicose veins can be caused by a variety of things, including hormone changes, pregnancy, genetic predispositions, and blood vessel valves and vein walls weakening with age. The issue is relatively common, affecting millions of men and women in the United States.
How is VenaCure EVLT® different from vein stripping and ligation?
The "old-fashioned" way of dealing with symptomatic varicose veins is called stripping and ligation. Stripping and ligation is a mildly invasive surgical procedure that typically needs to be performed in a hospital setting under general anesthesia. Patients usually experience significant postoperative pain and most need several weeks to recover. There is also a high rate of failure. Cutting-edge laser based VenaCure EVLT® is non-invasive and performed in the clinic. It is done under local anesthesia and comes with nearly no downtime. Up to 98% of patients experience success from the procedure.
How does the laser treatment feel?
Local anesthesia will be used to help minimize discomfort during the procedure. Some patients experience light bruising and a “tightening” sensation along the vein after the treatment is completed. These mild effects dissipate after just a few days.
How long does treatment take?
The VenaCure EVLT® typically takes about an hour in most patients. Relief from the symptoms of varicose veins begins immediately and continues to improve for several days. The full effect of the procedure is realized after approximately 2-4 weeks.
How much downtime is expected?
There is virtually no downtime associated with our laser vein treatment, and regular activities can be typically resumed immediately. For a few days after the procedure, patients will have to wear a compression stocking and avoid strenuous exercise and hot tubs/hot baths. Follow-up appointments are typically scheduled for about one week, one month, and up to 3-6 months after the procedure. As a comprehensive vein clinic, the team at Carolina Center for Surgery wants you to look and feel your best and can continue to treat any other varicose vein problems you may have, including other smaller unsightly veins and ugly spider veins.
