Dr. Felix Muniz (“Moo-neez’) was born and raised in Puerto Rico. He is fully bilingual, speaking both Spanish and English.
Dr. Muniz obtained his Bachelor degree in General Sciences, “Magna Cum Laude”, from the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras Campus. He obtained his Medical Degree at the University of P.R. – San Juan and was in the top third of his class. He completed a four-year Anesthesiology Residency (specialty) program at the same institution where he also was chosen to be Assistant Chief Resident in his senior year.
Dr. Muniz then moved to Long Island, NY while he was doing his one-year fellowship (subspecialty) in Pain Management at SUNY-Brooklyn. He is a board certified Anesthesiologist and double board certified in Pain Management by the ASA and ABPM.
He has been in private practice since 1997 and has participated in various research studies and collaborated in writing a chapter about Intrathecal Pump Implants. He treats all kinds of chronic pain and excels as a pain management specialist with a particular interest in the spine, various nerve blocks and joint injections, and spinal cord stimulators. He was previously in Charlotte, NC before joining Carolinas Center for Surgery as a pain management doctor in June 2017.
