Sarah Bedard, PA-C, MPAS is an orthopedic physician assistant who graduated from Grand Valley State University in 2007 with a Masters’ degree. She came to Carteret County after graduation and spent several years here before going to practice at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in New Hampshire for 4 years. While being at an Ivy League Academic Medical Center was a great experience she is glad to be back at the beach! She has experience in Orthopedic Sports Medicine, Spine, Oncology, Joint Replacement and Trauma. Sarah works at Carolinas Center for Surgery as a team with Dr. Robert Coles in Sports Medicine and Orthopedics.
Sarah is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants, North Carolina Academy of Physician Assistants, and ENPAC (tri-county associate provider society). She also has experience working in hospitalist medicine, orthopedic spine, and inpatient advanced care of orthopedic/orthopedic trauma patients. She especially enjoys assisting with surgery and managing post-operative care for patients as they recover from a procedure.
Sarah lives with her husband, Bill, near the ocean and they love staying active by playing outside, swimming, bicycling, running their dog, paddle-boarding, and sailing. She is often found happily supporting local high school sports teams on the sidelines as a physician assistant to help with any sports injuries or issues that may arise. Her favorite part of the job is being able to spend time with patients and developing solid relationships. She believes that patient education for patients about their orthopedic conditions and issues is key to recovery and prevention. She has been complemented many times for going the extra mile for her patients and is a huge asset to the practice.
