Biography

Mary Jo O’neal graduated from East Carolina University in 2006 with a Master’s in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner. She is Board Certified through the American Nursing Credentialing Center and a member of Sigma Theta Tau. Her undergraduate degree was from the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1976. As a Registered Nurse she has practiced in a variety of settings including, critical care and emergency nursing, oncology and hospice care. Her background also includes employment as a pharmaceutical sales representative for Bayer Pharmaceuticals.

Since 2006, she has practiced as a Nurse Practitioner in Internal Medicine, Urgent Care, Pediatrics and Family Practice in Carteret County. In addition, she is a member of the American Nurses Association, the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and the North Carolina Nurses Association.

Mary Jo was born in Pittsburgh, PA and moved to Greensboro, NC where hse met her husband, Hal, who is a retired firefighter. They moved to Emerald Isle in 1999and have enjoyed their time at the beach on the Crystal Coast. They enjoy traveling, spending time with family and outdoor activities.
